49 people were murdered in a hate crime at an Orlando nightclub. It was the deadliest mass shooting in United States history.

Love is not a crime

Four days later, The Westboro Baptist Church—a hate group, announces its plan to protest the upcoming funerals of two of the victims, Christopher Leinonen and Juan Ramon Guerrero

Angel Action Wings

The idea was to beat them at their own game and protest the protest. The execution was Angel Action Wings—giant costumes made up of white cloth and plastic piping.

At the funeral, the volunteers stood alongside one another, directly opposite the hate group, and their wings (measuring 8 feet wide and 7 feet high) intersected to create a giant angel shield, that kept the mourners safe.

Love is love

Angel Action Wings received national coverage including The Washington Times, BuzzFeed, USA Today, Mashable, the ABC and the Huffington Post — estimated $2.2 million in earned media — despite spending $0 on advertising or media.

Most importantly, the Angel Action Wings received a permanent home at the LBGT Community Center of Central Florida, which is creating an "Angel Force" that will be dispatched to wherever love is needed.

Hate groups, you have been warned.

#AngelAction

Living in the digital age we wanted to make sure that everyone had an opportunity to show their support for the victims and their family.

So we created a  mobile and desktop tool, so people could show their support and wear the Angel Wings on their social profiles.
